India’s IPO pipeline surges to ₹3.86 lakh crore as companies tap public markets

AI Summary

The unprecedented growth in India's IPO pipeline signals a robust shift towards sustained capital formation, which is crucial for retail investors looking for opportunities in a rapidly evolving market. This trend not only reflects increased corporate confidence but also indicates a more diverse range of investment options, particularly in the SME sector. Retail investors should remain vigilant about issuer quality and market dynamics as they navigate this expanding landscape.

India’s primary market is witnessing an unprecedented boom, with the mainboard IPO pipeline hitting a staggering Rs 3.86 lakh crore-- nearly 3.5 times the Rs 1.10 lakh crore raised through 84 issues in 2026 so far-- indicating companies’ growing appetite to tap public markets, according to the industry body Association of Investment Bankers of India (AIBI).

The pipeline includes around 130 companies that have received approval from market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), while another 75 companies have filed their Draft Red Herring Prospectuses (DRHPs) and are awaiting regulatory approval, AIBI said in its mid-term white paper.
