The Spark — Early 2026
A question we couldn't answer
One evening, a family member forwarded us a WhatsApp message about an IPO — "Should I apply? What is GMP? Will it list with gains?" Simple questions. But finding the answers meant jumping between 5 different apps, most behind a paywall, some showing outdated data, all cluttered with ads and dark patterns designed to sell you something.
We realized: every middle-class Indian investor faces this daily. The student investing their first salary wondering which mutual fund to pick. The homemaker doing a SIP wondering if she's on track for retirement. The small business owner checking gold rates before buying. None of them have access to good, honest, free tools.

The Build — March to May 2026
Nights, weekends and a lot of coffee
We're Shivangi Dudhat and Chandni Chotaliya, co-founders from Gujarat, India. We started building TopFund in March 2026 — after work, on weekends, sometimes past midnight. Two co-founders. No outside team, no investors, no budget. Just a laptop, a cloud server, and a mission to build something genuinely useful for Indian retail investors.

topfund.in goes live — and people actually use it
In June 2026, TopFund went live. We shared it in a few investor WhatsApp groups, half expecting silence. Instead, messages started coming in: "This is exactly what I was looking for."
