Hero Motors shares rise nearly 7% after weak market debut

AI Summary

Hero Motors' strong recovery from a subdued market debut highlights investor confidence in the auto parts sector, particularly as the company has established ties with major clients like BMW and Ducati. This positive momentum could signal a broader trend of renewed interest in IPOs within the Indian market, especially as companies leverage fresh capital for growth and debt reduction. Retail investors should keep an eye on the auto components sector, as it may benefit from ongoing demand in the automotive industry and the government's push for manufacturing.

Shares of Hero Motors rose 6.5 per cent on Wednesday after a subdued market debut, following the Indian auto parts maker’s $104.2 ‌million initial public offering.

The stock opened at ₹82 on the National Stock Exchange, a 2.4 per cent discount to its IPO price of ₹84, before recouping losses to trade 6.5 per cent higher ‌at ₹89.11 by 10:15 a.m. IST. At that price, the company was ‌valued at roughly ₹4,006 crore ($418.95 million).
