Electric two-wheeler penetration nears 10%; Centre allocates ₹776 crore to upgrade EV testing infrastructure
AI Summary
The significant rise in electric two-wheeler sales to nearly 10% of total sales highlights a growing shift towards electric mobility in India, supported by substantial government investment in testing infrastructure. This trend not only bolsters the domestic market but also positions Indian manufacturers favorably for exports, aligning with the 'Make in India' initiative. Retail investors should consider the potential for growth in electric vehicle stocks and related sectors as consumer adoption accelerates and government incentives continue to drive demand.
Electric two-wheelers accounted for nearly one in every 10 two-wheelers sold in India during April-August FY27, even as the Centre approved the deployment of ₹776.29 crore to strengthen testing infrastructure for electric vehicles and other emerging automotive technologies, senior government officials said on Friday.
The figures were disclosed at the PM E-Drive Dialogue with the Industry at ICAT in Manesar, presided over by Heavy Industries Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Friday as part of the automotive testing agency’s 20th anniversary programme.
