Seven new tools landed on TopFund this week — a real historical-NAV backtester, a Money Health Score, instant push alerts for IPO allotment and watchlist thresholds, portfolio benchmarking against the Nifty 50, and more. Here's exactly what each one does and how to use it.

TopFund shipped seven new tools this week, spanning backtesting, financial health scoring, real-time alerts and portfolio comparison. This is a quick tour of what each one does and where to find it.

1. What If Calculator — Backtest a Real Historical Investment

The What If Calculator answers a question every investor has asked: "What would my money be worth today if I'd invested in this fund back in [year]?" Pick a mutual fund, choose SIP or lumpsum, set an amount and start date — it backtests against the fund's actual historical NAV data, not a projected return.

You'll see total invested, current value, absolute gain, and XIRR (annualized return) — plus a chart of invested vs. current value over time.

What it showsWhy it matters
Total invested vs. current valueThe real rupee outcome of your hypothetical investment
XIRR (annualized return)Lets you compare across different funds and time periods fairly
Invested vs. value chartShows the journey, not just the endpoint — including drawdowns

One important limitation: the tool currently only searches Growth-plan funds. Dividend (IDCW) and Bonus plans keep their NAV artificially flat by design — the investor's real return there comes from reinvested units the site doesn't track — so backtesting those off NAV alone would silently show a misleadingly low return. Growth plans have no distributions, so NAV alone is the accurate total return, which is exactly why the tool is scoped to them.

2. Money Health Score — A Free 100-Point Financial Checkup

The Money Health Score takes your age, income, expenses, investments, SIP amount, EMIs, emergency fund and insurance status, and turns it into a single score out of 100 with a full breakdown.

  • Emergency Fund (20%) — benchmarked against 6 months of expenses saved
  • Savings Rate (25%) — benchmarked against saving 20%+ of income
  • Debt-to-Income (20%) — benchmarked against EMIs staying under 40% of income
  • Insurance Coverage (15%) — whether you hold term life and health insurance
  • Retirement Readiness (20%) — whether your current SIP + investments are on track for a 25x-expenses retirement corpus

Each factor gets its own score bar and a plain-language tip, so you know exactly which lever to pull next — not just a number with no context.

3. Share Your Calculator Result as an Image

The SIP and Lumpsum calculators now have a "Share as Image" button that generates a branded card with your actual numbers — not just a generic link — ready to drop straight into a WhatsApp chat or Instagram story.

A personalized "my SIP will be worth ₹1.2 Cr in 15 years" card is what actually gets shared and clicked — a plain link to a calculator rarely does.

4. Instant IPO Allotment Push Alerts

The IPO Allotment Checker used to be pull-only — you had to remember to come back and check. If you've saved a PAN to your account and enabled push notifications, TopFund now pushes you the result the moment it's available, instead of you finding out later.

5. Watchlist Threshold Alerts

Your Mutual Fund Watchlist can now do more than just save a list — set a 1-year return threshold on any watched fund (e.g. "alert me when 1Y return crosses 15%") and TopFund pushes you the moment it's crossed. Editing the threshold re-arms the alert, so it won't go stale after firing once.

6. Portfolio Benchmarking — "How Do You Compare?"

Your Portfolio Analytics page now answers the question every investor actually wants answered: "Is this good?" It compares your portfolio's return against the Nifty 50's year-to-date return, and shows an anonymized percentile — how you're doing relative to other TopFund investors tracking a portfolio, with no other investor's identity or numbers ever exposed.

7. Stock Pages — Live Price + Which Funds Hold It

TopFund now has dedicated stock pages for Infosys, Wipro, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank and Dr Reddy's — live NSE price, daily change, and a direct cross-link to "which mutual funds hold this stock" so you can see real fund allocation percentages, not just the price.

This is deliberately a small, honest start — only stocks with real, already-tracked price data get a page, rather than guessing at data for hundreds of stocks the site doesn't actually have fundamentals for yet.

Key Takeaway

The common thread across all seven: real data over guesses (the What If Calculator's Growth-plan restriction, the Stock Pages' small honest scope) and alerts that respect your attention (one-time, not repeated, easy to turn off). Try the What If Calculator or Money Health Score first — both work instantly with no login required.
