Are banks closed on the 2nd and 4th Saturday every month?

Yes. Under RBI rules, all scheduled commercial banks in India are closed on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month, in addition to every Sunday. The 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturdays are working days.

Do bank holidays affect UPI, NEFT, IMPS or net banking?

No. Bank holidays only close physical branches. Digital services — UPI, IMPS, net banking, mobile banking and ATM withdrawals — continue to work as usual, though NEFT/RTGS batch settlement timings can vary on holidays.

Do bank holidays differ by city or state?

Yes. RBI notifies bank holidays separately for each city/state under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. National holidays like Republic Day, Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti apply everywhere, but festival holidays (Holi, Onam, Durga Puja, Bihu, etc.) vary by region.
