The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Uttar Pradesh Promote Pharma Council (UPPPC) to strengthen quality standards, regulatory compliance and innovation across the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors.
The agreement was signed during the YEIDA MedTech Investors Meet & Site Visit 2026, held at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida on July 14.
The MoU comes as Uttar Pradesh seeks to expand investments in pharmaceuticals and medical technology through industrial clusters and manufacturing infrastructure. Earlier, Uttar Pradesh (UP) had secured pharmaceutical and medical device investment commitments exceeding ₹38,000 crore.
Under the partnership, the two organisations will collaborate on improving regulatory standards, promoting awareness of the Indian Pharmacopoeia, pharmacovigilance and materiovigilance, and organising joint training programmes and stakeholder outreach initiatives.
The collaboration will also focus on fostering research and industry-academia partnerships while supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through digital tools for adverse event reporting. The initiative is expected to strengthen post-market surveillance and quality assurance mechanisms aimed at improving patient safety.
