Brigade Hotel Ventures earmarks ₹1,100 crore for Chennai expansion, plans three new hotels

Brigade Hotel Ventures (BHVL) is stepping up its presence in Chennai with an investment of about ₹1,100 crore as part of its next phase of growth, underlining the city’s increasing importance in the company’s South India expansion strategy.

The hospitality company, which currently operates the 202-key Holiday Inn Chennai OMR IT Expressway, plans to add three more properties in the city — the Courtyard by Marriott Chennai World Trade Centre in the near term, followed by the luxury JW Marriott Chennai OMR and Grand Hyatt Chennai ECR by 2029-30, says the company’s FY26 annual report.

Vineet Verma, Director, BHVL, told businessline that Chennai will account for around ₹1,100 crore of the company’s planned ₹3,600-crore investment to expand its hotel portfolio over the next three-four years.

The company’s annual report said its nine operational hotels provide a strong base while a pipeline of nine upcoming properties across Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Vaikom Island will nearly double its portfolio to about 3,300 room keys.

BHVL entered Tamil Nadu in 2017 with the Holiday Inn Chennai OMR IT Expressway, its first hotel outside Karnataka. Located on the city’s IT corridor, the 202-key property primarily caters to IT and ITeS companies, and corporate travellers, with meeting and banqueting facilities, a business centre and leisure amenities.

Verma said BHVL currently operates nine hotels with over 1,600 keys across Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Mysuru and Gift City in Gujarat. The upcoming projects will add another 1,700 keys, taking the company’s total inventory close to 3,300 keys.
