Asian markets opened sharply lower on Friday as oil prices surged above $100 a barrel, reviving fears of another inflation shock and triggering a sell-off in equities and bonds.
This came after Bent crude held near $100.85 a barrel after soaring 7% overnight to a two-month high, as attacks by Iran-backed Houthis on Saudi tankers in the Red Sea compounded supply disruptions caused by Iran's near-closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
