AI Summary

Nifty 50 opened lower at 24,068 and is currently trading at 24,090, reflecting a bearish trend with an advance/decline ratio of 18/32. The market remains uncertain, trading within a range of 23,900 to 24,300, with potential breakouts indicating further movement. Traders are advised to stay cautious, with short positions suggested for those with higher risk tolerance.

Nifty 50 began today’s session with a gap-down at 24,068 versus Monday’s close of 24,211. It is now trading at 24,090, down 0.5 per cent.

The advance/decline ratio stands at 18/32, showing a bearish bias. Cipla and Bharti Airtel (up 1.3 per cent each) are the top gainers so far today in Nifty 50. Shriram Finance (down 3.2 per cent) and InterGlobe Aviation (down 2.5 per cent) are the top losers.

Among the sectors, Nifty Pharma and Nifty Healthcare, up 0.7 per cent each, top the chart whereas Nifty Realty and Nifty Auto, down 1.5 per cent each, are the top losers.

Nifty 50, after opening with a gap-down yesterday, witnessed an intraday rally. However, it could not move out of a key price band. Today, too, it has opened lower and continues to trade within a price range. Therefore, at the moment, the intraday trend appears uncertain.

The July expiry Nifty futures began today’s session lower at 24,098 versus yesterday’s close of 24,243. It is now trading at 24,100, down 0.6 per cent.

The price action since last Wednesday shows that the contract has been trading between the support at 23,900 and the barrier at 24,300. So long as Nifty futures remain within these, the path of the next trend will be unclear.

A breakout of 24,300 can lift the contract to 24,570 and subsequently to 24,750. However, if Nifty futures slips below the support at 23,900, the downswing can extend to 23,600.

Since Nifty futures (Jul) has not moved out of the 23,900-24,300 range, we suggest staying out.

That said, traders with high risk tolerance has short now at 24,100. Target and stop-loss can be 23,950 and 24,175 respectively.
