Bayer AG buys 11.9% stake in Bayer CropScience for ₹2,207 crore
German multinational Bayer AG has bought an 11.9 per cent stake in Bayer CropScience Ltd for ₹2,207 crore through a block deal, according to data available on the NSE.
Following the transaction, shares of Bayer CropScience slipped nearly 1 per cent to trade at ₹4,128 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Thursday.
Bayer AG, a promoter entity, purchased 53,54,030 shares, representing a 11.91 per cent stake, in agrochemical company Bayer CropScience Ltd.
The transactions were executed on Wednesday at an average price of ₹4,122.30 apiece, taking the size of the deal to ₹2,207.09 crore.
Meanwhile, Bayer CropScience Aktiengesellschaft (AG), one of the promoters, sold an equal number of shares and exited the firm.
Following the acquisition, Bayer AG's stake in Bayer CropScience has increased to 20.34 per cent from 8.43 per cent.
The transaction was an inter-promoter transfer and did not alter the overall promoter shareholding in the company.
In May this year, Bayer CropScience posted a 13 per cent increase in net profit to Rs 162.1 crore for the quarter ended March 2026, compared with Rs 143.3 crore in the corresponding period a year ago.
Revenue from operations for the quarter rose 5 per cent to Rs 1,100 crore from Rs 1,046 crore.
For full financial year 2025-26, the company reported a 21 per cent growth in net profit to Rs 689.2 crore, while revenue increased to Rs 5,675 crore from Rs 5,473 crore in the previous fiscal.
Bayer AG is a Germany-based global life sciences company with operations spanning pharmaceuticals, consumer health and crop science.
